A wedding ceremony has 3 goals in mind:
- Provide legal protection for your family. You need to do paperwork, whether license, if you can have one, or lawyer if you cannot.
- Create the spiritual union and the covenant in which the two of you will live.
- Provide recognition, support and celebration of your marriage from your community.
You want to create a wedding ceremony and celebration that handles all three of these things.
Tip: Figure out the legal stuff early. Even if you can have a license, you may want to see a lawyer.
Dream up and refine the promises you will live on and into for the rest of your life.
Make sure your ceremony contains a piece that solicits your community’s support and that your reception is dedicated to helping your community come to know one another.
