I’ve looked at this a bit in an earlier blog, but I’m going to keep adding to things until we get it all right. Because after all, if it wasn’t right for your wedding, or I didn’t get there in time, it’s going to be right for your buddy’s wedding.
This is one of those welcome reminders that getting married is not all about creating the perfect wedding ceremony, throwing an incredible party or even crafting an amazing marriage. Sometimes it’s just about the journey to the altar! A journey, that “gasp” should be fun!
The other day I was visiting a friend in another city. We all piled into a car and went to get our feet rubbed. This was the best idea. 4 women in one room being pampered. Whew! It was an outrageous deal; but more than that, it was what you want.
There was time to talk before everyone got down to the business of being pampered and then there was being pampered…. Ooooh, baby! After that you need a good lunch, maybe even champagne.
I don’t know about you, but when I was getting ready, I didn’t need any shower where I got a lot of gifts. I’m middle-aged; I have lots of stuff. And I don’t need people to spend money with me. But time? I need people to spend time with me!
You can do this for yourself, or someone else can do it for you. Four is a great number because you can talk about your stuff and there is still room to talk about the other people and make you look as if you’re not COMPLETELY obsessed with your wedding — which you probably are, but don’t really want to be! Because one of the great things about being middle-aged is that we have a life in addition to being madly in love!
Girlfriends, We’ve got it all going on! It’s doable. I believe in us. And we sure deserve it!
